There is something rather special about the beginning of a new term.

The nursery feels full of possibility. New friendships are beginning, familiar faces are returning and our environment is ready to be explored once again.

For some children, September brings the excitement of starting nursery for the very first time. For others, it is about reconnecting with friends, settling back into familiar routines and discovering how much they have changed and grown.

At Happy Kids, we know that before children can feel ready to learn, they need to feel safe, secure and valued. That’s why relationships are always at the heart of what we do.

A gentle start

The beginning of a new term isn’t about rushing children into activities or expecting them all to settle in at the same pace.

Some children may confidently walk through the door. Others may need a little more reassurance, a familiar face or simply some time to watch and take everything in.

We follow each child’s individual needs and give them the time and space they need to feel comfortable.

Learning through curiosity

Our environment is carefully prepared to invite children to explore rather than telling them what they should do.

You might find natural autumn treasures, interesting objects, books, fabrics, loose parts or an intriguing invitation waiting for children to discover.

We don’t always know where an invitation will lead – and that’s part of the fun!

A simple collection of leaves might become a sorting activity, a small world, a piece of artwork, a pretend meal or the beginning of a fascinating conversation.

Looking forward to the Autumn Term

Over the coming weeks we will be following children’s interests, spending time outdoors, exploring the changing season and providing plenty of opportunities for creativity, imagination, investigation and problem-solving.

Our aim is simple:

To create awe and wonder every day.

We can’t wait to see what the children discover this term.
